Description | Kolam rice, also known as Zini or Jhini, is a traditionally variety grown in Wada Tahasil of Palghar District of Maharashtra and has also been awarded the official Geographical Indication (GI) Tag. However, the neighbouring Murbad Tahasil of Thane District also has a sizable production of this variety. We take pride in sourcing only the best quality rice from local farmers who use sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices and wish to create a different identity as Murbad Kolam.
This single polished Kolam rice is known for its long grains, soft texture, and distinct aroma that will take your cooking to the next level, though, since single polished it may not appear as clear white. It can be a promising local substitute for Basmati rice.
